Since the company was founded in 1882, the management always grasped the importance of taking a forward view of the trends and developments within any given period, and this has enabled sound foundations to be laid for the ongoing success of the company. The aim of the following chronology is to provide an overview of the most significant events in the company’s history.

1882 Formation of the PINGER company. Initial activities are pumice stone mining and production of hand-made pumice blocks.
1926 First major project using large-format pumice stones for the construction of 22 buildings on an estate in Plaidt, Germany.
1945 The boom in the pumice stone industry gets underway. PINGER also begins to develop structural steel production.
1970 Fabrication of the first wall elements using pumice stone concrete for use in the construction of the company’s own steel production and other facilities as well as for external companies.
1994 Closure of the structural steel engineering arm. From now on successful focussing of company activities on pumice stone products.
1994 Formation of THERMODUR Leichtbauelemente GmbH based in Kottenheim by local construction material manufacturers and former PINGER workers. Construction of a new plant having a modern circulation unit and high productivity.
1997 The PINGER family withdraws form the company. KANN Group take over control of business activities together with UBG mbh & Co. KG and form Pinger Wandelemente GmbH & Co KG.
1998 The company moves to its new production location at Neuwied-Irlich. The state-of-the art, computer controlled production facilities and continuous production processes enable complete facade elements in a wide variety of sizes to be fabricated economically and rapidly.
2007 Merging of PINGER Wandelemente GmbH & Co. KG and THERMODUR Leichtbauelemente GmbH to THERMODUR Wandelemente GmbH & Co. KG with production sites in Neuwied and Kottenheim.
